We are delighted to announce that the 2026 Poetry By Heart events, including a very special workshop with Julie Blake, are funded by the Fondation Jeannine Manuel.

We gratefully acknowledge their generous support in sustaining this important and meaningful competition. Their funding enables us to continue offering high quality educational and networking opportunities that inspire and support our member schools.

A Special Workshop with Julie Blake

Following the Primary Poetry By Heart competition, we are pleased to invite teachers to a workshop led by Julie Blake, Co-founder and Director of Poetry By Heart.

Date: March 27
Time: 4:30 to 6:00 pm
Location: Union School, 27 rue de la Faisanderie, 75116 Paris

In Julie’s own words:

“Poetry By Heart is more than a competition for speaking poetry – it’s also a tried and trusted approach to the ‘problem of poetry’ in schools. With first-rate poetry resources, joyful pedagogical activities and at-your-own-pace CPD, it’s a way of bringing new energy and ideas to your classroom.”

During this practical and engaging session, Julie will:

  • Share the wide range of Poetry By Heart resources, including some very new ones
  • Lead hands-on activities to try out together
  • Offer ideas suitable for teachers working with pupils aged 4 to 18

The workshop is designed to be inspiring, practical, and directly applicable in the classroom.
